# Ampeg

> Maker of legendary bass amplifiers, speaker cabinets, effects pedals, and plugins since 1946. Home of the SVT®, the world's most iconic bass amp, and the B-15 "flip-top" combo amp.

Ampeg is a manufacturer of bass amplification equipment including bass amp heads, speaker cabinets, combo amps, DI boxes, preamp and effects pedals, and bass amp software plugin, SVT Suite. Founded in 1946, Ampeg is best known for the SVT® (Super Vacuum Tube), the 300-watt all-tube bass head introduced in 1969 that became the standard for live bass amplification. The SVT is credited as the amp that defined the sound of rock and roll bass. Ampeg's B-15 "flip-top" combo amp, introduced in 1960, defined the sound of recorded bass throughout the 1960s, 70’s & 80’s and is still being used in many major recording studios today. ## Brand History

Ampeg was founded in 1946. The company's most significant milestone came in 1969 with the introduction of the SVT (Super Vacuum Tube) — a 300-watt all-tube bass head. The B-15 "flip-top" combo amp (introduced 1960) is credited as the first bass combo amp and defined the sound of recorded bass throughout the 1960s.
