Danny Morris

Cleveland Jones / Thaddeus Hogarth / Calypso Hurricane

Known for his warm muted tone, Professor Danny “Mo” Morris has been playing bass for most of his life and has been an educator at Berklee College of Music since 1988. He has taught thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to successful careers and perform around the globe. Danny has taught players of all levels and his mission as an educator is for his students to develop a solid rhythmic groove with their own distinct timbre, solidify their understanding of harmony, and discover the “art of playing bass on a song.”

Danny attended Ithaca College in New York and later he earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music. Danny is highly involved in the education process at Berklee. In addition to his campus-based courses he developed, and teaches, two internet courses for Berklee Online: Bass Performance 101 and R&B Bass. He annually performs at the WESFEST concert series in Los Angeles in support of the Wehmiller Scholarship. Danny awards the scholarship to a current bass student at Berklee.

Danny has a large online presence and teaches 'The Motown Masters Mashup' series at scottsbasslessons.com, as well as regularly contributing to the TalkBass.com forums. On top of all of this, he’s constantly in the studio and can be seen playing gigs all over the Boston area.
